I started writing stories for fun when my senior year high school English teacher suggested I should pursue a career in writing instead of healthcare. After several years as a nurse, I realized she was right. That's the funny thing about teachers: they usually are. Though I still occasionally play combat medic for my husband, our two rowdy sons and Great Dane, I hung up my nurse's hat in 2012 to write novels. When I'm not writing, I work as an editor for Author Accelerator and mentor for Pitch Wars.
I have short works published in literary magazines, including The Decameron Journal. In 2016, two of my young adult novels (FALSE START and THE LANGUAGE OF CHERRIES) were both selected as finalists for the YARWA Rosemary Award. I'm a member of SCBWI and YARWA, and I'm a card-carrying Slytherin (think Snape, not Malfoy). I'm represented by the amazing Kate Testerman of KT Literary Agency.
My obsessions (aka the things that inspire my writing):
Iceland. Books. Music. Baking. Mojitos. Clemson football. History.
Road Trips. The South. The magic of nature. Baseball. Dogs. My family.
